Removing wax from bee frames.
Is there some special way to remove wax from the frame after the contents have been cut out for chunk honey?
One of the best ways to remove the wax from the frames after cutting out chunk honey is to boil the frame in a lye water solution. The strength of the lye water depends upon how fast you wish to work. Strong lye water will boil off the wax in about a minute. You will have to experiment to get the proper strength. Add more lye as the solution is used. Be carefullye is dangerous to use. If you do not care to use lye, a careful scraping with a sharp knife will remove enough of the beeswax to allow the frame to be used again.
