REPLACING BROOD COMB-When should I replace my brood frame?

Should brood comb be replaced often?

One will note that a brood comb that has been in use for several years will appear to have smaller cells than one recently drawn out. The reason for that is that each time an egg is placed in that cell, the bee egg hatches into a grub, then forms a sort of cocoon around it while in the transformation state and when it hatches, leaves a fine skin or shell inside the cell on the wall. Consequently the cell becomes smaller each time a bee hatches. For this reason a smaller cell might have a tendency to produce a smaller bee, which could be inferior in nectar gathering. Therefore the combs should be removed at least every ten years, if not more often.
